Steve Williams KØSRW, is the chairman of HamCon Colorado, Inc. He is an ARRL Assistant. Section Manager. and is a VE with the Mountain Amateur Radio Club. Steve is a member of PPRAA, PPFMA, PPARES, AMSAT, QCWA and others. He is the Business Area Mgr. for Signal Monitoring at RT Logic, a space, military and commercial communications R&D company. Steve has held R&D, technical and management positions at Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, DSA and precisionWave Corporation. Steve enjoys running, backpacking, playing baseball and hanging out with his wife Kathy and two daughters, Alli (16) and Kaela (11). He is an ordained Elder and Trustee at First Presbyterian Church (Colo. Springs), where he teaches in the High School department and is the Asst. Director of the Sanctuary Choir.

Jerry VerDuft, ADØA, is the founder of HamCon Colorado, Inc. Jerry served as ARRL Section Communications Manager of the Orange Section (California) in 1970-71 and established the Inland Empire (California) Council of Amateur Radio Organizations. Jerry is an ARRL Life Member, the current Director of the Pacific Area Transcontinental Corps (TCC) of the ARRL NTS Cycle 4 (cw), and is a member of the Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association and District 14 ARES. He is an ARRL A-1 Operator, specializing in cw activities and, as noted above, in the strength and organization of amateur radio. He also serves as an ARRL Accredited Extra Class Volunteer Examiner.

Larry Olson, W9INE, is a long time member of the ARRL and holds an Amateur Extra class license. He was licensed as K0AHW (Kansas) in 1953. Worked as an electrical engineer at RCA Corporation and R.R. Donnelley until his retirement in 2003, and then moved to Estes Park, Colorado. Currently, he is active in community activities and is a Professional Engineer in Colorado and Indiana. Has been active in emergency communications and SKYWARN for the past twenty years and served as an officer in the Naperville, Illinois EMA for about fifteen years.

Jeff has been Colorado's Section Manager since October, 2001. A Life Member of the ARRL, he previously held positions as Asst. SM and Emergency Coordinator. Jeff is also currently Vice Chair of the Colorado Council of Amateur Radio Clubs and a member of the Frequency Coordination Committee. He is a director and member of the technical committee of the Pikes Peak FM Association and a member of the Boulder Amateur Radio Club. He also sits on the board of directors of HamCon Colorado. Active on HF—he likes rag-chewing on 10, 12 and 17 meters and RTTY on 20. He is also active on 2 meters and 70cm. A Vietnam era veteran, Jeff served in the U.S. Air Force as a Telecommunications Systems Controller (Tech Control) and has been in the Telecom industry for over 20 years. He is employed as a project manager at Level 3 Communications and resides in the community of Westminster.

First licensed as WNØTUB in 1976, Tim has been involved in many aspects of Amateur Radio in the Colorado Section: beginning as the first Colorado HF net manager, then as District 22 (Arapahoe County) assistant EC, EC, as the East Slope District EC, Section Emergency Coordinator and finally as Colorado Section Manager. He held the position as Colorado's Section Manager for ten years from 1991 through 2001. Currently, Tim is Chairman of the Colorado Council of Amateur Radio Clubs and sits on the Frequency Coordination Committee. He is active with his home club, the Denver Radio League as well as HAMCON Colorado and Arapahoe County ARES. Tim has been married to his XYL, Eileen, WDØDGL, since 1967. They have two sons, Jim and Tim, neither of which are hams.

Eileen joined the world of amateur radio in 1978 and soon became a General Class license holder. She has been active in all phases of Amateur Radio. On HF, as a Novice, she worked all states - CW! On VHF, she has been active with Arapahoe County District 22 ARES as a past Administrative Assistant EC, past secretary of CCARC, and is currently the Denver Radio League Repeater Rag newsletter editor and publisher. Eileen involved herself with HamCon Colorado the first year and enjoyed it so much, she returned for a 2nd go-round and is now back for the 3rd as the registrations coordinator. Eileen retired from the City of Aurora Police Admin. Services Department April 8, 2008! Her current goals include enjoying retirement with hubby Tim, WBØTUB, and working again with the fine HamCon 2009 Committee gang!

Ben Baker, KBØUBZ has served as the Emergency Coordinator of Arapahoe County ARES as well as Section Emergency Coordinator. Since his appointment, Ben is an active in Emergency Management as a member of the Colorado Emergency Management Association (CEMA) and the Arapahoe County Emergency Management Group, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and SKYWARN. Ben has traveled to the FEMA Institute in Maryland with over 70 Mayors, City Council and County Commissioners as well as Police and Fire Chiefs from Arapahoe County to attend the Integrated Emergency Management Course.

Ben is very active in Public Service Communications serving each year as Communications Unit Leader for the Leukemia Society's Leukemia Regatta, Destination Imagination, MS-150 Bike tour and Bike MS 2008 Colorado's Ride and MS Challenge Walk for the MS Society as well as the Fat Tire Classic for the American Red Cross. Ben has been the recipient of the American Red Cross's Communications Volunteer of the Year and the Behind the Scenes Hero Award from the MS Society for his volunteer work. Ben was the Communications Unit Leader for ARES for Operation Mountain Move (2), an exercise by the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS).

Recently, Ben was asked to chair the Amateur Radio planning committee for the Democratic National Convention. He is also a member of the Colorado Council of Amateur Radio Clubs (CCARC) Frequency Coordination committee. Ben has also serves as Webmaster and Security Committee Chairman for Hamcon Colorado 2009, positions he held also for the 2003 and 2006 HamCon Colorado Conventions.

Ann was first licensed as a Novice in 1974 and again in 1987 and is presently a coded Technician. She was also active in Air Force MARS with the call sign of AFN2WYH.

Ann is the Colorado Section Public Information Coordinator and serves as the HamCon Colorado Secretary. She is an active Amateur Radio Operator being a founding member of Edge of Space Sciences (EOSS) as well as participating in the EOSS Tracking and Recovery Team. She is active in ARES as a member of Arapahoe County ARES and an Official Emergency Station. Ann is also the past President of the Colorado YLs.

Being an active member of ARES, Ann has participated on many emergencies including Columbine High School Tragedy, the Y2K Non-Event, High Meadows, Snaking, Buffalo Creek, and Big Turkey wildfires. She has also participated with the MS-150 (now Bike MS Colorado) bike tour for over 14 years.

Ann is also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, John H. O'Brien Post 6331 Auxiliary.

Vicki has been a licensed operator since 1998. Her reason for becoming a Ham was to offer communications support for educational, non-profits and other charitable organizations. She has worked at events from the Leukemia Regatta to the Engelwood Holiday Parade and has consistently assisted at the South Metro Destination Imagination and worked in various capacities at high school marching band events sponsored by the Colorado Bandmasters and the Blue Knights.

Vicki has helped with registration at the first two Colorado Hamcons and is proud to be part of the committee for this year's event.

John Maxwell, NØWBW in addition to being new to the HamCon Colorado committee, is the Chairman of the Colorado Council of Amateur Radio Clubs and is focused on working with the State radio community to facilitate use of existing technologies and fostering the use of new technologies for general amateur and emergency uses.

John has been active in the radio community for nearly 25 years. His club Rocky Mountain Ham Radio is focused on bringing reliable and high-quality communications to the hams of Colorado.

John has worked closely supporting many public service events in the Denver area such as the Denver Marathon, Bike MS, Colorado's Ride and many ARES activities with use of the Rocky Mountain Ham Radio communications trailer. He is also a member of Colorado D-Star.

My name is Dan Meyer. My call is NØPUF. I am Arapahoe County Colorado D-22 Operations Officer for ARES. I volunteer for many non-profit organizations as a radio operator. I have also been trained and been involved with the CERT program. I participate in the monthly Denver-Metro area "fox hunts". I also help track down interference on the HAM frequencies. I do the hunts to stay sharp for tracking down the interferers. I have successfully tracked (Usually with the help of the other monthly hunters) several problems on the Ham bands.

It you have ever wondered about foxhunting, please join us during the HamCon convention for 2009! There will be practice sessions on Saturday and a real hunt on Sunday. Bring a hand held 2 meter yagi, an HT and an attenuator. We will have some equipment to loan on a first come basis. Ken, WØETT and a group of Grand Mesa Contesters of CO - including N0HF, K0FX, K8FC, AC0DS and WT9Q - have volunteered to manage operations of W1AW/0 special events station for Hamcon 2009 attendees. Operations will include HF, 6 meters, and 2 meters FM talk in.

At home in Parker, Ken operates 160 meters thru 432 Mhz enjoying both CW and SSB activities for contesting, DXing, and weak VHF signal work. He is an ARRL Life Member and is a past ORS in the 60's and OO in the 70's. Ken is presently president of Grand Mesa Contester's of CO and is also one of the RMVHF Monday night VHF net controls at 8:00pm local 144.220. He hosts the RMVHF beacons designed by W6OAL for 144, 222, and 432 at his cabin east of Como near the continental divide. Ken was first licensed in December 1958 and held the calls: K8MTK, K7MFF prior to getting the WØETT callsign in 1961.

Forums and Technical Sessions Paul S. Swanson, WØPSS, serves as Forums and Technical Sessions Chairman of HamCon Colorado, Inc. representing Pikes Peak FM Association (PPFMA). Paul’s ham radio operating interests include HF, VHF/UHF, digital modes, home brewing and QRP field operating and software defined radio. He is a member of Pikes Peak FM Association (PPFMA), ARRL, Tucson Amateur Packet Radio (TAPR), Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association (PPRAA), Edge of Space Sciences (EOSS), Pikes Peak ARES, El Paso County RACES, and is a member of the Tri-Lakes Monument Fire Radio Association (WØTLM), a communications auxiliary group at the Tri-Lakes Fire Department working on tactical communications issues. Paul is an ARRL Accredited Extra Class Volunteer Examiner.

Paul is a native of Minnesota and has lived in Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Washington State and Colorado. Paul has a B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E. from Michigan Technological University (Houghton, MI) with a focus on analog and digital logic, embedded software, and computer architecture and semiconductor physics. Paul’s thesis topic was computer speech recognition.

Paul has been a design engineer for Hewlett-Packard (Colorado Springs), Intermec Corporation (Everett, WA), Forte’ Networks (Colorado Springs) which merged with Fluke Corporation (Everett, WA) to form Fluke Networks where he is a Senior Staff Engineer and Systems Architect. Paul designs internet and telephony test equipment. Paul has five patents involving communications measurements, signal and image processing.

Paul is a private pilot and Eagle Scout. Paul and his wife Dianne have been married since 1984, live in Monument, Colorado. They have two Cocker Spaniels; enjoy sailing, canoeing, camping, hiking, photography and travel.

Dan Scott, WØRO, was first licensed as KA9IAB in 1981 then KBØPPM after moving to Colorado . Dan is on the board of Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association (PPRAA), a member of Pikes Peak DX Group (PPDXG), and Cheyenne Mountain Repeater Group (CMRG).

Like many, Dan's amateur radio interests have varied throughout the years from SKYWARN to DX chasing, or from building to Software Defined Radio.

As a Solutions Architect for EMC Corporation Dan tests and builds reference architectures for hardware/software integration.

You may see Dan participating in other activities including volunteer work with the Colorado State Parks , Geocaching, SCUBA diving, and Mountain Biking.

Bob was first licensed in 1977 and enjoys a wide variety of amateur radio activities, HF through UHF.  He is usually active in VHF contests; often operating from some mountaintop or roving around Colorado. Bob has written numerous magazine articles for QST and CQ VHF and is the author of two books on electronic test instruments. More recently, his writing activities have centered on the VHF column for QRP Quarterly , the FM column for CQ VHF and his own ham radio weblog (http://www.k0nr.com/blog).  Bob has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and has worked in a variety of engineering and management positions for the Hewlett-Packard Company and Agilent Technologies.

Bob serves on the Section Cabinet as the Technical Coordinator, responsible for recruiting and maintaining a staff of Technical Specialists who are available to assist the Colorado Amateur Radio community with technical issues such as antenna and radio construction, RFI, repeaters, test and measurement, equipment set-up, portable operations and many others. Robert is an attorney with a practice in Highlands Ranch, Colorado .   He is a graduate of Pacific Union College with a triple major in Broadcasting, Journalism, and Public Relations.  Robert has worked in broadcasting where he was responsible for the design and construction of a mixed-use radio transmitter site and was station manager for KANG (now KCDS).  He has been a manufacturer's representative for G.E. Mobile Radio where he was also responsible for the development of six mountaintop repeater sites in Northern California .  In 1984 he founded Superior Telecom Inc. which installed and maintained private telephone systems. 

Robert returned to school to study law and received his J.D. in 1995.  He has held management positions in AT&T/Lucent/Avaya including Director of Global Sales Training.  He has also served as a reserve police officer / deputy sheriff in Calistoga and Placer County (CA).  He is the former Public Information Coordinator for the Colorado Section, and now serves as State Government Liaison. Robert is an Assistant Emergency Coordinator for ARES District Ø; an active member of ARES District 24, and serves as General Counsel for the Colorado Repeater Association, Amateur Radio Emergency Service of Douglas and Elbert Counties, Inc. and Jefferson County ARES.  He is also the founder and president of the EmComm Colorado, Inc.

Gerry Villhauer, WØGV, has been an active Amateur for 41 years.  Was first licensed as a Novice in 1967, holding the call WN0UCQ.  Upgraded to General, Advanced and Extra with the call WAØUCQ and later changed to WØGV.  Currently presiding as President of the Denver Radio Club.  Past President of the RADOPS of El Jebel Shrine and an active VE.  Ham interest include technical projects and favorite operating mode is CW (Morse).  Gerry is currently employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as a Aviation Safety Inspector.  He is married and residing in Westminster, CO, has two children and four grandchildren.

Wayne was licensed in 1991, after many years of activity as a SWL, BCB DXer and scanner enthusiast and has since upgraded to Extra Class. He has been an active member of the National Radio Club, the World's oldest and largest all BCB DX organization for over 40 years, and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors and editor of the National Radio Club AM Radio Log. Wayne 's amateur activities have included being active with local groups including being past President of the Aurora Repeater Association, current trustee of the 147.15 (+) repeater and club Treasurer. Along with his wife Joan, KB0YRX, he published the Rocky Mountain VHF+ Newsletter and is active with that organization promoting Weak Signal activity on Colorado 's Front Range as well as an avid VHF/UHF contester. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the Colorado Council of Amateur Radio Clubs and is the Administration and Finance Officer for Arapahoe County ARES.
